Grading Rubric

I can honestly say that my least favorite part of teaching is giving out grades. Here is my rationalization of the Oswego grading system (from E to A without an A+) You can see, in this grading rubric, a systematic run up from D- to B+ that runs in 3 and 4 point ranges: 4 points for the major grade (D, C, B) and three points for the secondary grades (the + and - variations). Only E (0-62), A- (a four point range) and A (a five point range differ from this). Some might argue that I give too many A's and A-'s, which I suppose might argue for tightening up those ranges some (and raising the standard for all lower grades), but I'm pretty happy with this system. -- DavisFoulger
