Here is the transcript of an instant messenger session with my son:

 mediadavis: Back from the studio, I see.
 mediadavis: How was it?
 WFDrums: not too shabby
 mediadavis: So you had a good time?
 WFDrums: we still have spme mixing to do, but everything's  recorded now
 WFDrums: yep
 mediadavis: That's great.
 mediadavis: Mom said you were coming down with something.
 mediadavis: Was the recording engineer happy?
 WFDrums: yeah, I have a cold, but it didn't really affect the recording too much
 mediadavis: That's good.
 WFDrums: yeah, we kept him laughing
 mediadavis: Yes, but was he happy with the music; the recordings.
 WFDrums: we have an amazing acoustic version of falling down as a hidden track
 WFDrums: yeah, I think so
 mediadavis: I thought you might have the double bass up for just that song.
 WFDrums: yep
 mediadavis: A hidden track?
 WFDrums: yeah, its unlisted on the album, but is the last  track
 mediadavis: Ah, very good. Is it the only version of falling  down, or a second.
 mediadavis: Can you kick SETI?
 WFDrums: its a second version, and sure
 mediadavis: Good stuff, and good stuff.
 WFDrums: indeed
 mediadavis: Did you see my web pager modifications?
 WFDrums: yes I did
 WFDrums: very nice
 mediadavis: Let me know when you have more stuff to put up or point to.
 WFDrums: will do
 mediadavis: I have a web server here in Oswego now that I  can put other stuff on.
 WFDrums: okay

 mediadavis: Click on th URL
 WFDrums: I did, the I clicked on the thng to create it, then it took me too a screen, then I hit save, and it said thank you

 mediadavis: I assume you saw this copnversation there.
 WFDrums: no, the link didn't work, I had to enter it on  netscape
 mediadavis: You can, of corse, edit it.
 WFDrums: I see
 WFDrums: that's quite interesting
 mediadavis: Thought you might be intriged. Its called a Wiki.
 WFDrums: ahhh
 WFDrums: what's the point?
 mediadavis: Check out the WelcomeVisitors page for an explanation.
 WFDrums: I still just don't understand the value
 mediadavis: Well, there are several.
 WFDrums: I'm sure
 mediadavis: First, it lets you create web pages "on the fly", directly on the web.
 WFDrums: okay
 WFDrums: i see now
 mediadavis: Second, others can collaborate in authoring and revising those pages.
 mediadavis: Third, people can add comments on those pages.  Indeed, a comment page could be set up in a wiki that was pointed to by a web site.
 WFDrums: yeah
 mediadavis: Indeed, a page can be a mini-discussion space.
 WFDrums: I see
 mediadavis: That makes a lot of things possible. Imagination doesn't hurt, though.
 WFDrums: word
 WFDrums: lotta imagination on our album
 mediadavis: Word?
 WFDrums: it means I agree
 WFDrums: like "here here"
 WFDrums: slang dad
 mediadavis: That I know. I've really been enjoying watching you guys grow.
 mediadavis: slang dad?
 WFDrums: its slang, dad
 mediadavis: Oh, Slang, dad.
 mediadavis: Hadn't heard "word" used that way. Always something new.
 WFDrums: actually its a fairly dated expression
 mediadavis: Really?
 mediadavis: I'm just glad that "slang dad" wasn't some weird reference to a poser parent.
 mediadavis: (could have easily been)
 WFDrums: okay
