Last time we talked about positioning the organization relative to its various stakeholders
Today we want to talk about developing the organization
- That's very much a matter of developing ones stakeholders
Stakeholder recruiting and development
- Companies that treat people as their most important asset are the most profitable ones.
  - That translates to taking care in
    - creating positions
    - recruiting people into those positions
    - developing them through their career
      - Performance management
      - Training and continuing development
    - and giving them the freedom to do their jobs
      - Inspire rather than command
      - Give people a role in creating value
      - Walk the walk rather than talk the talk
      - Respect employees privacy
- Encourage organizational learning
  - Basic skills
  - Technology skills
The book is of course talking about employees, but these lessons apply to all stakeholders
