Each group needs to select and research an organization that is reflective of the common interests of the group.
For that organization they should:
Identify the stakeholders associated with that organization. This should be the an easy part, but the group should be specific in describing the nature of each stakeholder group. The customers of the music industry differ, in fundamental ways, from the customers of stockholders. Ownership may differ, etc. See DayThreeOrganizational for one statement of an organizations possible stakeholders. See the discussion of Deetz work in Eisenberg and Goodall (chapter 6, p. 158-159) for another.
Identify the kinds of communication media that the organization uses in communicating with each set of stakeholders. This part of the assignment may be more challenging. Answers to these kinds of questions may be found in company materials like annual reports and company web sites, but you may need to actually contact someone in these organizations to actually answer this question. It may help, in thinking about this, to look at TheVarietyOfMedia.
For each medium answer the questions: Why is this medium used for to communicate with this stakeholder group? Why not another? Should the organization be considering alternatives?
